ACL Open #8 Champion

ACL Open #10 had an Ultra vibe going in Wichita, Kansas. With a Pro Shootout taking place at this Open, it was well attended by both Team Ultra’s players and the field of ACL Pros. Competition was fierce and Ultra came out on top. 

 

Open Singles

Coming off his runs in the ACL Canada Open and National #1, Team Ultra’s Joe Kniesteadt wins his first US ACL Open. The Michigan native won his bracket after dropping is first game! His run took him the longest possible route to an Open Singles win a player could go. In his bracket final he double dipped Jordan Power. He had to also get past, Josh Holland, Cheyenne Bubenheim, Sarah Cassidy and Brandon Sehlmeyer among others. In the Final 4, He beats Sammy Soto before topping reigning world champion, Mark Richards in 21 rounds.

 

ACL Open #10 Champion


Team Ultra had strong finishes at ACl Open #10 from a few players. Rookie ACL Pro Chris Kingsbury picks up a Bracket 2nd with some big wins over Ryan Weidenfeld, ALex Hicks and Jeremy Schermerhorn. Jeremy Frazier continues his very strong season with a bracket second of his own. Frazier’s only losses come to Justin Burton Jr. Frazier has been playing very well in 2023 and is looking to really break-out this season. Double D Daymon Dennis finished 4th in his bracket to round out the Ultra players who finished in the money.

 

Tier 1 Open Doubles

Open Doubles was extra competitive with the field filled with ACL Pros. Chris Kingsbury and Alan Rawls came out shooting. They rode the hot hand on their way to a bracket 2nd. Felix Vargas III partnered with fellow Texan Juston Burton Jr and they notched a bracket 3rd. Sliding into a bracket 4th was the Ultra duo of Daymon Dennis and Jimmy McGuffin. Noah Almanza was in Kansas shooting with Logan Chamberlain. They tossed the Ultra Vipers to 5th in their bracket. rounding out the Ultra players who took home some cash in Wichita were Aston Speas and Sarah Cassidy. It was a solid day in doubles for Team Ultra.

 

Shootout #2

In the Women’s Shootout Sarah Cassidy went deep. She was looking to lock up a spot in the Shootout finals but fell short finishing tied for 3rd. On the Men’s side Joe K. ended his run in 5th. He was the highest Ultra finished in Men’s Singles. In Doubles Doug Zafft and Bill Hadley shot a monster game vs Mark Richards and Philip Lopez. Jr. Zafft throws an 11.5 while Bagn’ Bill posts an 10.67. Combined they blanked last season’s #1 ranked team 23-0. They then played the veteran Dave Sutton and Jeremy Frazier. The Ultra on Ultra matchup ended with Zafft and Hadley getting the win. Sutton and Frazier finish 5th along with fellow Ultra teammates: Jeremy Schermerhorn and Joe Kniesteadt, Mark Lopez who partnered with Josh Glover, and Zachary Lewis playing with Ethan Walker.
