Pro Shootout Winners!
We are catching up with some older news. The ACL’s Pro Shootout and Open Series have been running back to back to back for a while. Team Ultra has had 3 Pro Shootout Winners so far!
Shootout #3 Doubles:
South Dakota was the site for Pro Shootout #3. Winners were not crowned until a week late in Miami, Florida. Playing a short drive from Mt. Rushmore in Rapid City, SD. Team Ultra’s Noah Almanza and Jeremy Frazier got HOT! The young guns put together an amazing run in South Dakota topping some big names (Burchfield and Rawls in the second round, Youmans and T. Smith in the 3rd). They secured a spot in the Miami broadcast with a win over Rosier and Hamilton. A week later in Miami, Almanza and Frazier take advantage of some opportunities that we uncharacteristic from Matt and Bret Guy. They get the win while never trailing the All-Star duo. Almanza and Frazier will move on to the Shootout Finals as the 3 seed in doubles.
Shootout #3 Women’s Singles:
Yetty Irwan was playing not too far from her home in Denver Colorado. Yetty played very well in rounders earning the 2 seed. She picked up an opening round win in the bracket but had an off game that cost her a spot in Miami.
Open #11 Results:
Yetty Irwan and Dangerous Danny Seals picked up a 9th place in Open Doubles. Also finishing 9th was Steve Schroeder and Blake Karnick. For the weekend Fillmore, Ca.’s Corey Ballard played well. He finished in the final 8 of 36 players in Men’s Shootout Singles. He carried that momentum into the Open with a solid 17th finish in Doubles. It was Open Singles where Ballard shined once again. He 4th in his bracket. Mark Lopez picks up a 5th place bracket finish while Almanza and Seals take 7th in their brackets. It was solid work from Team Ultra.
Shootout #4 Singles:
Florida’s Chris Kingsbury had a breakout performance in Fort Worth, Texas. He had a strong run in rounders earning the #1 seed. Kingsbury run the bracket throwing 5 games with a 10+ PPR. He fends off last season’s #1 overall player Mark Richards in a close game to make the broadcast. On stage he puts together another strong performance. Training 6-4 lafter round 3, Kingsbury blitzes off 6 straight four baggers. This furious run results in Kingsbury leading 10-6 going into the last frame where he washes with Cody Henderson and secures the victory. It was a big time win for the rookie.
Shootout Update:
With the wins in Miami and Fort Worth, Team Ultra secures 2 of the 12 awarded spots in the Shootout Finals in September. The Shootout series is at the halfway mark. Shootout 5 will be in Mesa, Arizona June 2nd. Team Ultra should have some good odds as the western location gets into the heart of Ultra Nation and will feature some of Ultra’s top teams. Look for Moses and Peter Zazueta to show out alongside of Doug Zafft and Bill Hadley. 2022 Shootout #8 Champions Brevon Valdivia and Tyler Parent will also make the trip. Arizona is also home to Ty Lopez who last season really made a strong run later in the schedule. Currently 17th in Pro Doubles, Lopez and Eric Tscherne will look to keep the momentum going in Mesa.
